KIWI GRASS AKA DWARF HAIR GRASS
Here are some tips for caring for dwarf hairgrass:
- Light: Dwarf hairgrass needs moderate to high light for healthy growth.
- Temperature: Dwarf hairgrass prefers tropical temperatures between 72–82°F (22–28°C).
- Water changes: Regular water changes help maintain water quality.
- Trimming: If leaves are dying or melting, cut them off at the base. To make the carpet look like a field of grass, use curved scissors to cut all the leaves to an even height.
- Thinning: Thin out the plant occasionally with aquascaping scissors.
- Vacuuming: Use a siphon hose to vacuum the lawn just above the plants to remove excess organic waste and algae.
- Shrimp: Add algae eating shrimp to help keep the plants free from algae and uneaten food.
- Replanting: Once the plant is well-established, it will self-propagate by sending out runners across the substrate. You can trim off the new baby plants and replant them or leave them to grow out.
- Planting: Moisten the soil before planting, then use thin steel pinsettes to push small groupings of the plants into the soil.
- Root tabs: If the leaves are turning pale or yellowing, add more root tabs
