Lighting:Requires relatively high light conditions to achieve its true colors, with optimal coloration occurring at higher PAR levels (e.g., 150-200 umols).

Substrate:A nutrient-rich substrate, 1.5 to 2 inches deep, helps the plant thrive. Using root tabs can also provide beneficial nutrients.

Nutrients:Benefit from a regular supply of nutrients, particularly high iron levels and low nitrates (below 5 ppm). While CO2 injection can enhance growth, the plant can show decent red coloration without it.
Care and Maintenance

Planting:Separate bundles into individual stems and plant them densely, about half an inch apart, to create a thick, bushy effect.

Pruning:The plant grows quickly and can become leggy if not pruned frequently. Regular trimming encourages thicker growth and prevents the lower leaves from being shaded out.

Propagation:Trim sections of the stem and replant them into the substrate. Roots will form, and the plant will continue to grow from the cutting.

Potential Issues:Handle the plant with care as its leaves are fragile. Be aware that Rotala rotundifolia is considered an invasive species, so dispose of trimmings responsibly to avoid introducing it into natural waterways.
