- Lighting:Â Java ferns can tolerate low to moderate light, but too much light can burn the plant or cause algae to grow on the leaves.Â
- Water: Java ferns can tolerate a wide range of water temperatures, from the upper 60s to the lower 80s. They can also tolerate soft acidic water, alkaline conditions, and brackish tanks. In a standard aquarium, the water pH should be between 5.5 and 7.0.Â
- Fertilizer: Java ferns can absorb nutrients from the water column, so they don’t usually need additional fertilization. However, you can use a liquid aquarium fertilizer to encourage faster growth and better leaf color.Â
- Tank size:Â Java ferns can be kept in a tank that’s at least 10 gallons.Â
