- Tank size: The minimum aquarium size for an Amazon sword is 10 gallons, but 20–30 gallons is recommended.
- Water conditions: The ideal temperature for Amazon sword plants is 68–82°F, and the pH level should be 6.5–7.5.
- Lighting: Amazon sword plants need at least 10 hours of full-spectrum light per day.
- Substrate: Use a loose, 2.5 inch deep plant substrate to encourage root growth.

Root tabs: Newly planted Amazon sword plants may only need one root tab every six weeks, but may need six tabs per month after three months.

Trimming: Trim your Amazon sword plant when it starts to get too big and is encroaching on its tank mates.

Planting: Plant Amazon sword plants in the midground or background of the aquarium so they don’t block your view of other plants. Bury the roots of the plant, but don’t cover the base of the plant with substrate.
